Mini-rant - Asian "Fake Crease" eye makeup

I have double eyelids (a crease or fold on the lids) naturally since I was about 6, and while double eyelids are aesthetically more pleasing to me, the "typical" Asian eyes with single eyelids/monolids can look very cute or elegant. Now, I have nothing against eyelid glue or tape at all, but I just hate hate HATE it when people, usually non-asian makeup artists, try to create a fake "crease" on models with monolids using eyeshadow and/or eyeliner, like this:

This is a milder example, but at the moment I cannot find a better pic via Google. It just looks so unnatural and ugly to me, I don't understand why people do that. What do you guys think? Is this "trying to be white/caucasian"?

EDIT: I realized that I might be a bit hypocritical here, since I do draw on a fake crease for my Mana cosplay makeup, but that's character-specific so it doesn't really count.

how is wearing circle lenses to give the appearance of bigger eyes any different than using shading to give the appearance of a crease?

Sonja: Well you can say they are similar in the fact that they are both very unnatural, but I think when you are wearing circle lenses, you are not deliberately trying to change the structure of your face to downplay your own ethnicity.

this is runway make up also. Even on white models their makeup is exaggerated to the point of extreme

Omg these people are going to make ALL of the Asian models think they have to get a crease to look beautiful and even get depressed about it just like models get depressed over thinking they are "fat".

That's strange because many white caucasian women see the crease in their eyelid as a sign of ageing and have eyebrow lift surgery to achieve a more "mono-lid" Asian look because they see it as more youthful!
The grass is always greener on the other side.
